Crafting Elegance in 18-Karat Gold: A Journey Rooted in Tradition and Quality
Gold is one of the most precious metals in the world. Coveted, sought after, malleable and elegant. Yellow gold, white gold, and rose gold are what make it up and what brings people together. The malleability of gold gives it special importance—the true value with which people can create works of art.
Breaking into the Fine Jewellery Market
In 1978, it was unheard of to sell luxury products. Nobody sold 18-karat gold jewellery. Then one day, our founder Pasquale Cusano started selling small items that served the Italian community at large. That eventually led him to opening his first boutique in Vancouver—on East 41st and Victoria Drive.
The local market
Locally in Vancouver, jewellery often tarnished and didn’t last long. Cheap alloys mixed with other metals caused the quality of jewellery to deteriorate quickly. Looking for ways to save money, save time and make a quick buck, jewellery wasn’t sought after.
Mass production, moulds, and factories were led to products that were very low in quality and often broke.
Unsatisfied with the local market, Mr. Cusano wanted to see his community feel confident in what jewellery that was produced, emphasizing quality of the highest sort, while also paying for the best.
At Montecristo Jewellers, we take pride in handcrafting the finest and most unique jewellery pieces, custom made just for you. All pieces in our signature collections can be customized from the gemstones to the design.
"We are doing things traditionally…no differently than they were doing in Italy 150 years ago." - Pasquale Cusano
