Creation & Discovery
Discovered at the De Beers Victor mine in Northern Ontario, the rough diamond weighed 35.80 carats (7.16 grams). Created more than 1 billion years ago in molten rock and formed under immense pressure, this worldly wonder was brought to the earth’s crust by an erupting volcano, spewing lava and ash into the air. For 174 million years, the lode of diamonds remained trapped in a cone.
Beauty Within
Graded as ‘Exceptional’ upon discovery, the rough diamond was immediately isolated from the rest due to the extraordinary nature of its carat weight, colour and clarity. Over half a million diamonds will be mined by the De Beers Group of Companies to discover just one that meets the exacting standards required to be ‘Exceptional.’
Cutting
Requiring decades of experience to shape an exceptional diamond, only a handful of master-level cutters possess the ability to cut and polish a stone of this significance. The ‘Exceptional’ diamond was cut in the patented Ideal Square shape with a hearts and arrows pattern. 8-sided and with perfect symmetry, the Ideal Square has been scientifically proven to be one of the most brilliant diamonds in the world, exceeding even the ideal round brilliant cut.
Inscription
The Forevermark inscription is a symbol of the Forevermark promise and guarantees that the diamond is genuine and responsibly sourced. Inscribed on the table facet reads several identifying elements: 11 for the year it was discovered, 3580 for its rough carat weight, and 1208 for its polished weight.
