PanoMaticCalendar in the Blue of Dawn

Glashütte Original’s watchmakers start their working day very early, often before sunrise. Not because they need to – they want to take advantage of the fresh air and the silence of a new day. So that in peace and quiet, and with a wakeful eye, they can keep the wheel of time moving. The new PanoMaticCalendar is a tribute to the passion of the artisans at Glashütte Original. With its cool, technical character and a touch of poetry, it is the perfect expression of the dual nature of the watchmaker’s craft.

The generously cut-out dial in the shade “Blue of Dawn” offers insightful views into the elaborately decorated movement within. This automatic watch with its annual calendar, limited to 150 pieces, testifies to a love of the high art of watchmaking, and. directs our thoughts to a very special treasure: our inner clock.

The silence of the moment

It’s morning, before sunrise, and the workshops at Glashütte Original are already buzzing with activity. The early hours are the favourite time of day for many of the watchmakers and precision mechanics, and rising early is a long-established tradition in their craft. A long time ago, before electricity arrived to light up the workshops, their early start reflected a desire to make use of every available hour of sunlight. On the other hand – and this magic remains to this day – in the early morning hours, active and alert at their workbench, they found inspiring moments of silence, and fresh perspectives.

The new PanoMaticCalendar pays homage to its creators, and to their personal rhythms. With great clarity, a deep blue, and its unique blend of poetry and mechanics, this model serves as a timeless tribute to every individual’s own feel for time.

A window on the (watch’s) soul

Transparency is a key characteristic of this annual calendar in a 42 mm diameter platinum case. The extensively skeletonised dial, coated in blue and featuring a refined “vinyl” decorative finish, offers insight into the multi-layered soul of the watch. Transparency is also the secret behind the retrograde month display, positioned between 3 and 6 o’clock. The twelve-month numerals are recessed in a curving, tinted blue sapphire crystal window. Indicators on the ring beneath ensure that only one numeral at a time is highlighted; together with the Panorama Date at 4 o’clock, the different number of days in the months is displayed with precision. The date needs to be corrected only once a year, on March 1st. The displays are complemented by a classic moon phase at 2 o’clock, whose dark blue starry sky is crafted by hand. Applied white gold indexes and luminous dots with Super-LumiNova®, together with the blued hands, ensure legibility when checking the time. A Louisiana alligator leather strap or a high-quality fabric strap round off the blue colour scheme.

The mechanical engine

Dial - PanoMaticCalendar in the Blue of Dawn

The cut-away dial reveals the ingenious mechanics beneath the elegant displays: the manufactory movement Calibre 92-11, which runs at a frequency of 28,800 half-oscillations per hour, combines optimal user-friendliness with precision and style. A silicon balance spring, which is resistant to magnetic fields and temperature changes, guarantees excellent rate precision, while a 100-hour running time and easy-to-use functions ensure maximum convenience in everyday life.

From the dial side and through the transparent case back one can easily admire the Glashütte stripe finish on the rhodium-coated three-quarter plate, along with numerous other traditional decorative finishes: bevelled edges, blued screws and polished steel parts, for example. Like all watches from Glashütte Original, every single one of the 150 pieces in the limited-edition PanoMaticCalendar is assembled, decorated and regulated in the watchmaker’s in-house workshops – not only in the early hours of a dawning day, but then, too.

The new limited-edition PanoMaticCalendar in the shade “Blue of Dawn” is available from September 2025 in all Glashütte Original Boutiques and from selected dealers worldwide.
